Are you creative? I hope you said yes to that question. The simple fact is, we’re all creative. We are all wildly creative when we allow ourselves to be. We may think we can’t sing or draw or play an instrument, but we can do any of those things if we want. It may not be GOOD, but we can still do it. And if it brings us joy then not only is it creative, God LOVES it!
You see, we are each how God’s ideas come to be in this world of form. Without us, God can’t come to know itself better. What a responsibility! One of the greatest ways this happens is through our creativity. The onus is on each of us to let that creativity out into the world. It doesn’t have to be good enough to make money off of. We have to give up on this thought that the only creativity that is worthy is creativity that can be monetized. Creativity and productivity are not the same thing! No, creativity is about joy. I can’t draw worth a darn, but much like my father, I love to doodle. Will that make me rich and famous? Of course not, but it brings me immense joy and connects me to Dad. And God loves it! God comes to know itself better because of my joy and that connection that I celebrate. So, what creative endeavor brings you joy? Go do it! Get out your paints! Carve up the competition on the basketball court! Play an instrument badly! Just have fun and know that God celebrates your joy!
